Cottam's Family Butchers
In this placement students will have the chance of hands-on practical experience in meat retailing. As well, they will be observing and learning from qualified and experienced professionals. Students will be operating in a well equipped butcher shop. This is a great opportunity to learn about the butchering trade.
Skills You Might Learn
The use of basic butchering processes will be a focus. For example, crumbing of meat and preparing meat for sale will be learnt. Students will also learn workplace communication in real life scenarios. They will assist with customer service and the maintenance and cleaning of shop facilities.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Tasks will be around assisting other employees in their roles and the student will be expected to be an active participant in all workplace practices. They will work as part of a team while under regular supervision. Cleaning up, assisting customers and communicating in the workplace are typical tasks and experiences with this placement.
Student Requirements
Students need to be well presented and well spoken, enthusiastic and good with customers. Students will need to enjoy being in a retail environment and take pride in themselves and their work. They need to be friendly and be physically fit to be on their feet for the day.
Dress Requirements
Enclosed shoes. Neat and tidy clothing suitable for a Butcher Shop.
Special Transport Requirements
Students are advised to make their own transport arrangement.
