Kimmba Bilingual Early Learning Centre is the first long day care service in Australia offering four languages to children daily. Their multilingual program aims for acceptance of families and children who come from different nationalities and backgrounds, and speak different languages. At Kimmba they believe a society accepting of peoples’ colour, race, language, and religion is a successful well-functioning society, and one in which we would like our children to live and grow. Kimmba are happy to host students interested in a career in early childcare.

For 1 day per week Placements - placements should only be for a maximum of 5 weeks. Students can seek another 5 weeks (20 weeks maximum, as per guidelines) should both the student and employer agree after a successful first placement.

This placement aligns with Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care through the below units of competency:
CHCECE002 Ensure the health and safety of children
CHCECE011 Provide experiences to support children’s play and learning
CHCECE006 Support behaviour of children and young people

Skills You Might Learn

Students completing placement have the potential to gain: Communication skills, Teamwork, Problem solving, Self-management, Planning, Following Guidelines and Organisation Skills

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students completing a placement here can expect to:
- carry out day to day care of children
- meal time preparation
- educational play
- exercise and painting
- helping maintain a clean and safe workplace
- sleep routine and bottle feeding

Student Requirements

An interest in the working with children and the ability to interact with them. Students should also be enthusiastic and willing to learn, punctual, with neat presentation, and a polite manner. If over 18 years of age, a Working with Children's Check is required.

Dress Requirements

Neat/casual dress, closed toe flat shoes. Bring a water bottle. Bring a hat in Summer.

Special Transport Requirements

Public transport available.
