Ali & his team are passionate about heavy vehicles & obsolete engines and equipment. They have the experience required to assist in restoring and rebuilding engines, including 2-stroke GM Detroit diesels.

Skills You Might Learn

Some of the skills that will be attained include an understanding of mechanical processes, particularly about heavy vehicles; an introduction to the heavy vehicle industry and how servicing works within this industry; understanding the basics of an automotive workshop; working with colleagues to ensure high standards of service are delivered; understanding OH & S requirements in a heavy vehicle industry; learning about customer service requirements in the context of a workshop and service centre.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students can undertake various duties relating to the Heavy Vehicle Industry. Duties will be directed by your Supervisor who is the Workshop Foreman and may include and not limited to; General maintenance of trucks; Basic diagnostics of electrical and mechanical systems, and providing Inspection Reports.

Student Requirements

An interest in learning about mechanics in a heavy industry environment Ability to follow instructions and always maintain safe practice. A curious nature and ability to ask questions to ensure understanding

Dress Requirements

Overalls will be provided as well as hearing and eye protection. Students must wear work pants, long sleeve shirt and wear steel capped boots
