This opportunity is for a Kitchen Hand and Café allrounder.
Long term Cafe Owners Brad and Charmaine will provide training and support to the successful student. The Figtree Café is a fast paced and centrally located Café in the heart of town with a long history of providing quality Baraldo coffee and delicious meals both eat in and take away.

Skills You Might Learn

This placement will provide students with valuable 'hands-on experience' and the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals.
Students will have the opportunity to build on their: communication skills, customer service skills, OH&S knowledge, team work, a variety of front and back of house skills along with food hygiene and cafe operations knowledge while working in a busy environment.


Students will also attain vital industry specific skills which will relate to their studies including:
• Working in real-life scenarios and environments
• Working with tools and equipment used in the hospitality sector and in a modern cafe business
• Liaising and working with colleagues, supervisors, customers/clients and suppliers
• Occupational health and safety practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Typical duties may include but can be discussed with employer about your area of interest within the caffe. - Customer service - Waiting tables - Barista serving and making - General cleaning - Food preparation - Cooking menu items - Unpacking and storing stock - Following OH&S

Student Requirements

Students will:
• Have a passion for the hospitality industry and be committed to the task,
• Have a neat appearance and wear clothes appropriate to the workplace.
• Be willing to learn
• Be punctual (on time) for work
• Have a good work ethic
• Take pride in their work and have attention to detail
• Have a good work attitude and show initiative
• Have good time management skills

Dress Requirements

Workwear appropriate for the workplace.
Neat casual attire
Minimal jewellery and long hair tied back for safety purposes.
Closed toe, nonslip shoes

Special Transport Requirements

No specific transport arrangements available. Students must organise their own transport, to and from the workplace.
