Working with Volkswagen-trained, first-class technicians using the latest diagnostic equipment you will gain valuable experience in what it would be like to be a first-year apprentice Motor Mechanic in the Automotive trade.

Skills You Might Learn

Application of safe working practices. Remove and replace wheel and tyre assemblies. Use and maintenance of specific tools. General car service and repair, oil change etc. Use of measuring equipment.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The daily routine includes cleanup and preparation for the day ahead. Followed by working closely with the Motor Vehicle Technicians on-site at Fairfield.
You will be performing tasks/duties a first-year apprentice Motor Mechanic would be expected to perform. The students will be expected to carry out duties using safe practices at all times and having regard for the safety of customers, fellow employees and themselves.

Student Requirements

Students should be punctual and communicative.
Students are expected to have a work-ready attitude.
They will be expected to perform duties in line with the expectations of a first-year apprentice.

Dress Requirements

Steel-capped boots. Protective clothing.

Special Transport Requirements

Accessible to public transport- bus and train service. Please refer to www.ptv.vic.gov.au to plan your journey.
