Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of the business. This placement will provide you with a range of opportunities to develop your skills while working alongside experienced industry tradespeople.
During your placement, you may undertake some of the following:
- Stack, store and inventory of materials
- Practical hands on work
- Use hand & garden tools
- Develop further knowledge about plants and gardens and land management
- Caring for plants by watering, weeding, pruning, feeding and spraying
- Be involved in lawn maintenance and cutting, removing dead growth and branches
- Work in a team and also independently
- Perform general tidying
- Be involved in labouring, given suitable supervision.
- Be involved in path management, laying and maintenance
- Some brick work and or concreting may be undertaken
- Observe OH&S procedures on site
- Clean site equipment under supervision
- Apply safe handling and use of plant and power tools
Student Requirements
Some employers have specific requirements relating to student placements. These may include sending in a resume, gaining parental permission for the student to travel with employer or attending an OH&S induction prior to commencing a placement.
Dress Requirements
Most employers will have an expectation on what is appropriate dress or a requirement (such as safety or uniform) for the workplace. Please discuss with employer for details relating to any personal protective wear, including protective clothing, boots gloves, hats, sun safety requirements etc

Close to public transport.
