This position: DIESEL MECHANIC (ASSISTANT) - MOAMA. An exciting opportunity exists for a School to Work placement at Byford Equipment. Byford Equipment has proven to be a leader in the design and fabrication of tankers made from stainless steel, duplex metals and aluminium for the food, wine and chemicals industries. During your placement, you will work alongside qualified employees who will provide ongoing support and career guidance. This placement will provide students with valuable 'hands-on experience' and the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals.

Students will have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on work placement. These skills include valuable general employability skills in communication, teamwork, problem solving, planning and technology.

Typical Tasks & Duties

As a Mechanic's Assistant, you will work safely alongside qualified technicians who are repairing Byford tankers - either in the workshop or out in the field. You will observe and assist with diagnosing mechanical faults and learn how to repair them. You will be required to use basic mechanical tools, assist in working out what new parts are needed and generally assist in workiing out what new parts are needed and generally assist the team to keep the workshop, equipment and work area safe and clean.

Students will also learn to work safely in a workshop and follow policy and procedures.

Closed toe, nonslip shoes
Steel capped safety boots
Workwear appropriate for the workplace

Minimal jewellery and long hair tied back for safety purposes

Student to make own transportation arrangements
