Typical Tasks & Duties
As a Commercial Printing Trades Assistant, you will learn and undertake a range of supporting activities and complete routine tasks, in pre-press, printing and production. The student will work under direct supervision of the supervisor.
The student may undertake the following tasks and duties;
Maintain a safe work environment
Communicate in the workplace
Adhere to and apply OH&S required standards in a production environment
Prepare, lead and unload product on and off machine
Prepare machine for operation (basic)
Pack and dispatch product
Perform basic industry calculations
Undertake basic machine maintenance
Apply quick changeover procedures
Student Requirements
Students with a positive attitude towards Commercial Printing, with a keen eye for detail and are self-motivated, have a consistent and good work ethic, willing to listen and follow instructions are encouraged to consider a Work Experience placement to develop skills learned from their Vocational Major subject.
Whilst the student is attending the work placement they are expected to:
Be interested in Commercial Printing as a Print Assistant
Be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested
Dress appropriately
Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties
Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner
Be punctual
Follow management instructions
Have good communication skills
Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements
Work within the team
Listen and take advice from fellow workers
Respect other people’s belongings
Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course
Dress Requirements
Suitable workplace attire which can be discussed with Employer prior to placement
Special Transport Requirements
Student to make own transport arrangements
