This organisation is a sports-based social and mentoring platform aiming to engage young people through fitness and recreation. The placement will relate closest to those studying a Certificate in Building and Construction, however due to the 'handy man/woman' type duties, there will be exposure to a broader range of trades experiences, depending on the jobs available for that day.
Skills You Might Learn
Students may have the opportunity to attain a broad range of skills while on work placement including general employability skills such as: communication, teamwork, problem solving, planning, organising and self-management. Students may also attain vital industry specific skills which will relate to their studies such as: hands-on practical experience, working with tools and equipment necessary to the occupation and business and working in real-life scenarios and environments.
Typical Tasks & Duties
This placement involves working alongside the maintenance staff to keep the venue in top shape. Students completing a placement here can expect to use hand and power tools (where appropriate), install fixtures and fittings, carry out/assist with improvements and repairs
Student Requirements
Students must come ready to learn and be reliable throughout their attendance. Students should have an interest in general trade work and be enthusiastic and willing to learn.
Dress Requirements
Students should wear appropriate work site attire - long pants, top, work shoes (that can get dirty). A hat and sunscreen or raincoat will be necessary depending on the weather and tasks.

Student to make own travel arrangements
