An exciting opportunity exists for a Work Experience Placement in this large, locally owned hardware business. Mitre 10 supplies and sources a wide range of hardware, homewares, garden and home improvement equipment and materials. This position is for a student who would like to experience a varied and lively work place and who is motivated to learn from a team of skilled professionals.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will gain first hand experience of customer service, product knowledge for building and construction, merchandise and display skills plus an understanding of the building trade and all the components that are necessary to work in the industry.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will assist trained staff in performing duties whilst receiving high level supervision. Duties may incude but are not limited to:
Customer service roles in the various sections of the store
Stock replenishment
Warehousing
Product delivery systems and displays
Assisting customers to locate items
Students will be responsible for the following tasks:
Assisting Mitre 10 trained staff with related garden/landscaping, point of sales/customer service and trade and timber sale tasks as instructed by trained staff
Engaging with customers as advised by Mitre 10 trained staff
Completing all related cleaning and setup and pack away tasks as assigned by Mitre 10 trained staff
Student Requirements
Students must have a willingness to learn and be able to follow instructions carefully and competently
Students must be willing to communicate clearly and work as a productive team member
Dress Requirements
Students will be required to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the workplace, sturdy closed in toe and heel shoes are essential.
