Salters have been in the Panel Industry for over 68 years, we are a preferred repairer for all insurance companies. We operate a 24hr towing service as well with 2 tilt tray tow trucks. Salters currently employ 18 staff including 3 apprentices. They currently have a apprentice panel beating vacancy and a spray painting vacancy.

Typical Tasks & Duties
You will have the skills and knowledge to work effectively in the automotive industry, welding, thermal cutting, removing and replacing panels and fittings, rust prevention, environmental regulations, and workplace safety and health.
Automotive apprentices and pre-apprentices enjoy state of the art facilities, including new vehicles, specialised repair and diagnostic equipment, fully equipped spray painting ovens, specialised workrooms and workshops.
Tasks to be carried out by the student could include and are not limited to;
• Apply safe working practices Observe OH&S procedures followed on site.
• Remove and replace steering assembly
• Remove and replace wheel and tyre assemblies
• Use and maintain measuring equipment
• Carry out industry research
• Dismantle and assemble engine, four stroke multi cylinder petrol
• Remove and replace engine cylinder head
• Recharge batteries
• Dismantle and assemble carburettor
• Dismantle and assemble fuel pump
• Dismantle/assemble transmission, manual
• Remove and replace clutch assembly
• Remove/replace suspension, front springs
• Operate electrical test equipment
• Remove and replace alternator
• Remove and replace starter motor
• Construct basic electronic circuits
Student Requirements
• Suitable for VCE or VCAL student as only one day out of school a week. Applicants from year 10 and 11 welcome to apply
