This is a wonderful opportunity for students from St Augustine's College in Kyabram to be a part of a Project Team that will promote and expose Vivid to the local community of Kyabram. Collaborating with Vivid and with support from teaching staff and the CCLLEN, this Youth Take Over Project will give students valuable insight into the industry whilst they complete their VM of Literacy and Personal Development.
Skills You Might Learn
Working in a team and independently
Working with people of all different abilities and backgrounds
Communication, time management and project management
Typical Tasks & Duties
Youth Take Over (YTO), Vivid and St Augustine’s (Kyabram) will co-design a project to support a group of Vocational Major students to expose and promote Vivid. There is a need for community awareness of the not-for-profit organisation in Kyabram.
The students will work as a team to design promotional materials exposing the need for the Vivid clients to become more actively involved in, and invited to, Kyabram community events.
Students will spend time at the Kyabram Vivid site getting to know the grounds, as well as understand the organisation and the people who work there. Shadowing the Vivid workforce, they will gain an understanding of what the workforce does on a daily basis.
Students will follow up with a field trip to Vivid in Echuca which has a much larger client base and offers many more services. Students will gain a greater understanding of the facilities and services available for adults with disabilities. This will help give the students context as to what Vivid is and does.
Students will learn about community engagement utilising local industry and media, including the EM/FM radio commentators, Chamber of Commerce Kyabram, the Kyabram Free Press and Vivid HR Comms and Engagement staff. They will develop accessible and youth friendly materials that will help promote Vivid to their local community of Kyabram while completing their VM of Literacy and Personal Development.
