**********WE OPPORTUNITY ****Semester 1 Student Placement intake from 1 December 2024 – 14 March 2025; Semester 2 Student Placement intake from 1 May 2025 – 30 June 2025
Latrobe City Council operates 24 Preschools and 3 Early Learning Centres and Maternal and Child Health across the municipality.
Latrobe City Council supports work experience placement within the early years sector. All students will be supported by suitably qualified educators during their placement.
The Family Services team aim to provide a place where students can put theory into practice in a supportive environment.
Skills You Might Learn
Students may have the opportunity to develop skills relating to the supervision of young children. Students will also receive insight and knowledge relating to Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Framework (NQF). Access to Family Services policies and procedures. During this placement students will gain experience of working in a team environment and independently. Working with people of all different abilities and backgrounds - Communication - Time management.
Student will have the opportunity to assist in food preparations.
Typical Tasks & Duties
All duties related to Preschool and Child Care work including setting up play areas, setting up and supporting children with art and craft activities, assisting lunchtime and snack time routines, supporting children in creative play activities and cleaning duties. There will also be packing up duties. Follow policies and procedures for allergy management. Follow polices in regards of sun safety for clients. Be aware of how to deal problem behaviors’. Maintain a hygienic workplace.
