The Wellington Shire Council maintains a wide variety of public spaces and infrastructure. This presents a fantastic opportunity for a student to undertake work placement in Built Environment as a Motor Mechanic.

Skills You Might Learn

You will enhance your skills in communication and team work; you will also learn how to plan and schedule the days work, to diagnose and repair plant and to maintain good workshop service records. You will also learn the value of field-testing plant and equipment before releasing it for service.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Working at the Yarram or Maffra depots, you will assist with the maintenance and repair of Council’s plant and equipment to ensure it is in good mechanical condition and safe working order. You will also assist with the replenishment and maintenance of stores and maintaining a tidy workplace.

Student Requirements

Students must be punctual, have a willingness to learn and take initiative to shape this into a valuable work experience for them.

Dress Requirements

Students are required to wear steel capped boots, neat and tidy work clothing suitable for a mechanical workshop, no loose clothing, jewellery or hair.

Special Transport Requirements

You are required to provide your own transport to and from your allocated work site.
