Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will gain hands-on experience across many aspects of the business. This placement will provide you with a range of opportunities to develop your skills while working alongside experienced industry professionals.
During your placement, you may undertake the following:
Be involved in general grooming of animals, which may include eg. washing, brushing, clipping and trimming animals’ coats and nails and cleaning ears.
Keep all areas clean and well presented.
Feeding and watering animals.
Assist with ordering, unloading and storing feed and supplies.
Assist with mixing of food, liquid formulas, medications or food supplements, on a needs be basis.
Assist where possible in providing treatment to sick or injured animals or contacting veterinarians about animals condition.
Collecting and recording information about animals.
Be involved in examining and observing animals to detect signs of illness or injury.
Assist with laundry and keeping animal pens, stables and equipment clean, neat and tidy.
Liaise with other staff, customers.
Provide customer service to all visitors, including children, parents, school groups, kindergarten groups and others.
Learn about the functions of this farmyard business
Answer phones, operate computer
Learn about and observe OH&S procedures and protocols.

Student Requirements

Students should have a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.

Dress Requirements

Students are expected to have attire appropriate for work in this field. Good sturdy boots or closed shoes as well.

Special Transport Requirements

Students are to make their own transport arrangements to and from Bundoora Park Farm.
