Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will be involved in a variety of aspects of the 5 kilometre long quarry including helping the maintenance team perform tasks in the workshop, assisting with basic fabrication, observing rock explosion and processing, undertaking general grounds maintenance and assisting with repairs on the plant. You will work with operators that load and haul material to be transported to Melbourne via train as well as watch the lab technician test rock. This placement involves a wide variety of tasks and you will be working with a very supportive team of experienced staff.
Student Requirements
Students must have a genuine interest in earthmoving, maintenance, engineering or civil construction.
Students should be well presented, show good communication skills, be punctual and show initiative by asking lots of questions.
Dress Requirements
Long pants, steel cap boots, long shirt, warm jacket. PPE will be supplied by the employer.
Special Transport Requirements
Students must be able to get to the quarry in Kilmore or to the Kilmore East train station where it may be possible for the student to be picked up by another staff member. A travel permission form will be required for this placement.
