This placement is with the Local government and plays an important role in fostering community development.
Swan Hill Rural City Council has developed a range of strategies, plans and initiatives to help ensure the prosperity and wellbeing of our communities. Where the focus is on a range of projects to boost the local economy. Students will work in a team environment and gain worthwhile experience during their time there. Staff are friendly supporting Work Experience and SWL with schools in the LGA.
This opportunity is with the Council engineering department who are very busy operations. Students will get a wide spread of learning experiences if taking up this opportunity.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their employability skills with this placement. Having to operate as part of a team, using workplace communication skills, managing their own time, planning and using initiative and enterprise are all important skills for this opportunity.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Tasks and duties undertaken by students in this placement would involve assisting staff in the engineering department. Students will also be busy helping and assisting other staff to ensure they have a varied insight to the operations of the Swan Hill Rural City Council operations.
Student Requirements
The student must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VCE/VM or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.
Dress Requirements
Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place, with closed in shoes.
Special Transport Requirements
Students will need to organise their own transport, travel options are available. Student to supply packed lunch however opportunity exists to purchase lunch.
