Gannawarra Shire Council has developed a range of strategies, plans and initiatives to help ensure the prosperity and wellbeing of our communities. Where the focus is on a range of projects to boost the local economy. Students will work in a team environment and gain worthwhile experience during their time there. Staff are friendly supporting Work Experience and SWL with schools in the LGA.
Students will have the opportunity to assist in surveying, predominately offering services around subdivisions, construction set out, site analysis and easements. Students will benefit from the welcoming environment in learning scenarios for keen participants interested in engineering scenarios.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their employability skills with this placement. Having to operate as part of a team, using workplace communication skills, managing their own time, planning and using initiative and enterprise are all important skills for this opportunity.
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students in the position will assist workers in a range of tasks to complete engineering tasks. These tasks may be in the office or outdoors with Ganawwarra field staff. The student will be required to be an active participant in all work place practices.
Student Requirements
The student must have completed the OH&S module in WRS VM or else have begun the OH&S module in the relevant VET course.
Dress Requirements
Students are to wear neat casual dress appropriate for the work place, with closed in shoes.
Special Transport Requirements
Students will need to organise their own transport, travel options are available. Student to supply packed lunch however opportunity exists to purchase lunch.
