Skills You Might Learn

Understanding all aspects of electrical wholesale including working with electricians and company reps, store operations and management, build your knowledge of the range of suppliers, products and componentry needed to do electrical installations and monitoring. You will develop customer service skills end to end, from taking off an electrical plan right through to fulfilling and packing the entire order. You will undertake Middy’s own switchboard training so you can problem solve to determine the appropriate component or technology in accordance with standard electrotechnology practices, use and operation of all stock.

Typical Tasks & Duties

• You will observe the supervisor and site and learn the process of typical tasks and duties of store operations by actually undertaking them, including:
• hazard identification
• process of dealing with inwards goods
• putting stock away
• pick and pack orders
• Customer service at the trade counter
• take off from electrical plan to supply a quotation
• complete a complex sale from start to finish

You will see store management in action including
• stock control,
• ordering,
• invoicing,
• safe working practices for forklifts and cable cutting

Student Requirements

• Must have a keen interest in learning more about the electrical industry
• Cooperate and get on well with others working cohesively within a dynamic team.
• You will be expected to have a good work attitude - being respectful of supervisor, team and equipment.
• Arrive at work on time and always call (before your standard start time) if you are running late or unavailable to attend work due to illness.
• Take responsibility and pride in your own work, delivering the highest standards at all times.
• Must be able to work in a busy environment.

Dress Requirements

Neat clothing required with closed in footwear.

Special Transport Requirements

Students must make their own way to stores.
Public transport is available to most sites.
