Anaconda was founded in November 2004 by an Australian retailing family. Anaconda's founders were concerned that Australia's outdoor and adventure culture was in decline, with many people seeking their leisure and entertainment indoors. This family, who love the outdoors themselves, realised that Australia really didn't have a one-stop-shop for outdoor and adventure equipment. This is how the vision of Anaconda - Australia's largest camping and adventure superstore - was born.

Anaconda is offering a placement for an enthusiastic student to gain excellent grounding in the outdoor and adventure industry, specifically in clothing footwear and camping equipment used, as well as retail customer service experience.

Skills You Might Learn

The students will further develop:

- Interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of products and product placement
- Stocktaking
- Basic customer service
- Work and life skills, such as time management, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, initiative and enterprise, planning and organising, and personal development skills
- Understanding of OH&S requirements.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Tasks and duties of students may vary, but some of these may include:

- Meeting and greeting customers, as well as helping customers find products in the store. This will build their confidence and communication skills.
- Unpack deliveries, stock shelves and arrange displays, rotate and replace stock, promote products.
- Assisting with managing the cash register or point of sale system.
- Assisting with general cleaning of the store.

Student Requirements

Students must have a positive attitude, be reliable, show initiative and enjoy challenges. They need to be able to get along well with people and be willing to work within a team. The student must appreciate the opportunity they are being provided and represent the store well during work placement.

Dress Requirements

Neat casual clothing and closed shoes
