CaSPA Care Emerald Hill is a community focused aged care home accommodating over 100 residents. They have been caring for people for 60 years and are happy to host students who are studying/interested in Allied Health, Aged Care, or Community Services. CaSPA Care offer flexible timetables, real choices, familiar staff, homely living rooms and a warm happy environment. CaSPA Care operates as a not-for-profit, so there is no daily $5 payment for this placement.

Students aged 18 and over must obtain a Police Check to attend this placement.

This placement aligns with Certificate II in Community Services/Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance through the below units of competency:
CHCCDE004 Implement participation and engagement strategies
CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
CHCCCS002 Assist with movement


For 1 day per week placements - Placements should only be for a maximum of 5 weeks. Students can seek an additional 5 weeks (20 weeks maximum, as per guidelines) should both the student and employer agree after a successful first placement.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students completing a placement here can expect to: Provide companionship and assist with socialisation of residents, participate in planning and delivery of multiple programs, assist with resident outings, shadow in house Physiotherapist, take part in supervision and direction of exercise programs for residents.

Student Requirements

Students should be enthusiastic, patient, show empathy and compassion and have the ability to liaise with all age groups. Students with a background in music or arts are strongly encouraged to apply.
Students 18 and over are required to obtain a Police check to attend placement.

Collared shirt, black pants and closed toe non slip shoes
