MIDAS Service Centre is an Automotive and Tyre Service branch located in Greensborough. They are looking for SWL students to actively participate and learn more about Car servicing, Maintenance repairs, Brake Repairs, Tyres & Repairs, Clutch Repairs, General Mechanics, Engine Diagnostics, Air Conditioning, Suspension Repairs, Roadside assistance, Roadworthy Certificates, LPG Specialist, and Logbook Services. This placement is suitable for students studying an Automotive certificate and who have completed their Safe at Work modules with confidence.

Skills You Might Learn

Assist as required general upkeep of work stations including some cleaning. Undertake basic repairs tasks (under supervision) tyre changing, some heavy lifting involved, using basic hand tools and basic power tools.

Transferable skills that students may develop will include teamwork, self-management, time management and problem solving.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students on placement will start with the basics, including proper care and storage of tools, and progress to more advanced tasks in line with their studies under the supervision and direction of the workshop manager. Students will have the opportunity to apply safe work practices in a busy workshop and actively participate in Automotive and Tyre services.

Student Requirements

This placement is suitable for students studying an Automotive certificate who have completed their Safe at Work modules.

Dress Requirements

Students to dress in heavy duty clothes suitable for a workshop environment. This will include long pants and long sleeve shirt, and sturdy shoes (preferably heavy duty / steel capped). Jewellery to be removed prior to placement. Long hair must be securely tied back.

Near local bus stop.
