2025 Opportunity!! Are you looking for variety in your sports work placement? The Horsham YMCA is looking for a passionate and outgoing individual who can work in all areas, which may include - front desk, group fitness programs, gym and crèche.

Skills You Might Learn

You will be rotated throughout the whole centre, spending time manning the front desk, assisting with customer enquiries, participating in group fitness programs, lifeguarding, helping with swimming lessons, participating in the health club and assisting in the crèche. Please note that Certificate III in Sport and Recreation will not give you a qualification to work in a gym. Certificate in fitness is the base level qualification.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Student Requirements

This position is for a VET Sport and Recreation student. Students must supply a resume and two references. Must have a criminal check which will be completed by the YMCA as you cannot do work placement without it, please keep in mind that it can take up to 6 weeks to obtain a criminal check. You must also have a Working with Children (volunteer).There is also some online safety precautions to complete. This is listed in the teacher section and will be explained to you once you share with your teacher.
Must be professional, outgoing, have a passion for the industry, a team player and are able to work under supervision.
Must also be friendly, proactive and have effective Interpersonal & communication skills and the ability to build relationships

Dress Requirements

Must be well presented with limited jewellery, hair tied back if long. Must wear enclosed shoes, long black shorts, a polo shirt will be loaned to you.

Special Transport Requirements

No specific transport arrangements available. Students must organise their own transport, to and from the workplace.
