Specialising in complex commercial steel projects across Victoria, this employer is widely recognised for their in-house capabilities to fabricate, deliver and install structural steel and metalwork solutions to the highest standards, using the latest 3D modelling software.

Skills You Might Learn
Whilst on placement students may gain industry specific skills including:
• Reading drawings and plans
• Use of engineering technology
• Working with steel to produce a wide range of products
• How to move and manipulate steel and related products
• Measuring and calculating, assist with welding, cutting and grinding

Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will have the opportunity to assist tradespeople who will be involved in various stages of machining and mechanical fitting, these tasks may include:
• Meeting with designers and other engineers to discuss plans for products
• Reading plans and drawings
• Selecting the correct materials and tools for projects
• Using fabrication technology
• Cleaning the workshop, unloading products, and general duties as required.
Student Requirements
Students must be studying VET Engineering or VCE Vocational Major have a strong technical and computer skills and an interest in engineering and product manufacture.
Mobile phones must not be used during placement and can only be used on breaks or at lunch.
Dress Requirements
Student to wear industry appropriate work wear and safety boots e.g., long sleeved top and pants.
Special Transport Requirements
Public transport available.
