Sales assistant
The St Vincent de Paul Society operates over 100 Vinnies Shops throughout Victoria. The prime purpose of these shops is to provide funds for the Society to carry out its charitable works and to provide those they assist with recycled clothing, furniture and other essential goods.
The Shops are administered by the Retail Advisory, a committee of the State Council.
This opportunity will allow students to develop a greater understanding of OHS in a workplace, enhance employability skills, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as job-readiness and retail experience.
The St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria is deeply committed to promoting child safety and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. The unique backgrounds and experiences of individuals are embraced and celebrated. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as those of all abilities, cultures, sexual orientations, and gender identities and expressions, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported within the community.

This role involves dealing with people from all walks of life on a daily basis, so a welcoming personality is essential, as is an understanding of the ethos of the Society.
If you are passionate about supporting your community and the environment, have a positive attitude, are eager to make new friends, and want to learn from a successful retailer, we would love to hear from you!
Students aged 18 and older are required to complete a police check before starting their placement (which can sometimes be arranged through Vinnies Management). Additionally, students must complete the store's paperwork upon application, as well as an SWL or Work Experience Arrangement Form once placement is confirmed.
Placements are not limited to a specific VET Certificate, and your experience with this employer will be versatile, providing opportunities to use your skills in different contexts.
