An SWL opportunity is available for students interested in working in a playgroup environment. We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gyms was founded to provide a place for children of all ability levels to play and grow together. As the only kids gym that offers an inclusive philosophy they have found all children can benefit from uniquely designed sensory equipment that is specifically designed to aid children with sensory processing disorders. All children are able to benefit greatly from this equipment and by allowing children of all ability levels to play together they are able to learn a great deal from each other and become the best motivation for success on every level.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will develop communication skills as well as how to support and engage with participants in a community playgroup setting. Students will also gain an understanding of the importance of playgroup and development of early friendships for children. SWL students will learn how to support young children to engage with their peers in a relaxed, fun setting,supporting children to develop early communication skills. Students will learn OH&S requirements as well using creative play to develop friendships and early community connections.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will set up playgroup activities, assist children with activities, craft and games as well as clean up after the session. Students will also be involved in social groups and participating. Students will also be involved in the planning of sessions and activities.

Student Requirements

This placement is best suited to a VM or VET students interested in working in the Community Services Industry towards Early Childhood Education and Care. A warm and friendly personality is preferred, along with a strong desire to actively engage with children and work in this industry.

Dress Requirements

closed toe shoes, t-shirt will be provided, further discussed during interview.

Special Transport Requirements

Public transport is available, tram and bus.
