The placement offers flexibility with students being able to be involved in a variety of the mainstream curriculum areas being taught, including Kindergarten plus Sport and PE, Music and Library. This is a terrific chance for SWL students to learn what it’s like to be part of a great school community.
Skills You Might Learn
Students will gain some hands-on practical experience while assisting staff with the children The students will be working in real-life scenarios in a real life environment. The strengthening of communication and employability skills is a large part of this placement as well as gaining confidence while helping manage and communicate with students
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students will work with teachers to assist them in their duties in relation to the various programs and activities. Students will be required to be an active participant in all workplace practices while being supervised by staff. Helping with kinder reading, math, sport and art are just some of the things students will be involved with.
Student Requirements
Student must have a genuine interest in Early Childhood Education and be punctual and good at communicating. You must respect and maintain confidentially on all issues relating to students and families of Balmoral K12 Community College.
If student is over 18 years of age a Working With Children Check will be required.
Dress Requirements
Neat casual dress appropriate for the work place with consideration to seasonal conditions ie hat, coat etc. Long hair tied back and respectful jewellery.
Special Transport Requirements
Transport for excursions may be required therefore a Travel Arrangement form to be completed.
