Enable’s IT equipment recycling services deliver both Environmental and Social Impact. They accept both working and non-working order Computer equipment across Melbourne. Metro. After they receive the equipment, they test it to see if it is in working order. Working order equipment is tested, upgraded and resold online or as part of Enable’s affordable tech program for people in need. Non-working order equipment is dismantled at our social enterprise to directly support work skills activities for local disadvantaged job seekers. Enable's programs exist to improve job prospects for participants in the open labor market whilst saving computer waste from landfill. RECYCLE.INSPIRE.CHANGE Working order equipment is re-deployed overseas to support world-wide access to technology through their registered and accredited recycling partners. Non-working order equipment is dismantled at our social enterprise to directly support work skills activities for local disadvantaged job seekers. Skills You Might Learn

Students will have the opportunity to be trained to understand key warehouse functions including pick, pack and dispatch and e-waste disassembly as well as learn how to clean and maintain a tidy and safe work space. Students will follow correct manual handling procedures at all times. They will learn how to adhere to safe work processes and procedures.

Typical Tasks & Duties

E-Waste dismantling: Students will primarily, learn how to safely disassemble IT equipment and sort parts into the relevant bins/areas provided to ensure effective recycling/waste management practices.
Pick, pack and warehousing: Students will support the online sales and efficient and safe pick, pack and dispatch of Customer equipment. Students will learn the safe use of shredding machines, tools, pallet jacks and commercial cleaning equipment
Students will work with Enable Crew Leaders and team using standard operating procedures and work instructions in the context of Enable’s Quality Management System.

Student Requirements

Students must be able to follow instructions and to work safely. They may have a basic IT and computer or warehousing knowledge . They should, for example, possess the skills to be able to identify the internal components of a computer, such as RAM, hard drive, floppy drive and DVD-ROM. Students will need to wear suitable safety clothing and be willing to seek assistance from the Team Leader as required. Students should be able to work in a team and have good communication skills and the ability to travel and work independently.

Dress Requirements

Long pants and work boots (steel capped) must be worn. Safety equipment such as gloves and eye-protection will be provided.
