If you are interested in an Allied Health career in Physiotherapy this is a fantastic opportunity!

This is an activity packed one-day work experience placement scheduled Term 2- Thursday 19th June 2025.

Students will have a tour of the relevant facilities, observe physio assessments and treatments on acute and rehab wards, outpatient physio treatments and assessments. You will also participate in group exercise programs including hydrotherapy and assist with setting up equipment and activities.

Student timetable:
9:00am to 10:30am - Medical Wards 4A/5A/6C
10:30am to 11:00am - Morning tea
11:00am to 12:00pm - Inpatient Rehab (Ward 4C/5C)
12:00pm to 1:00pm - Hydrotherapy (* Please bring bathers, thongs and towel)
1:00pm to 1:30pm - Lunch
1:30pm to 2:30pm - Acute Outpatients (Mercy Street)
2:30pm to 3:30pm - Medical Wards (4A/5A/6C)
3:30pm - Workforce Planning and Resourcing – hand in paperwork

Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain general workplace skills including:
• Working in a team
• Time management
• Planning and organising

And industry specific skills including:
• Communicating and working with patients

Typical Tasks & Duties

Tasks on the placement will vary depending on the daily schedule and may include:
• Observing patients and physiotherapists during consultations and group exercise
• Gaining knowledge of the role of physiotherapy across the health service
• Practice good customer service skills

Student Requirements

Students should be interested in an allied health career, specifically physiotherapy, be enthusiastic, patient, follow instructions and have the ability to liaise with all age groups.
• Students must notify the workplace supervisor and the Goldfields LLEN of any planned or unplanned absences.
• Personal mobile phones are not required and should only be used out of work hours or on meal breaks.

NOTE: Arrangement forms and associated forms including:
- Bendigo Health Confidentiality and Media forms
- Health form (e.g., Influenza vaccination required 1st April to 1st October)
- Immunisation vaccination status (as per National Immunisation Program Certificates) must be completed and signed off TWO Weeks prior to the placement.

At the end of the placement, you MUST RETURN THE IDENTIFICATION TAG AND BENDIGO HEALTH PLACEMENT ATTENDANCE & PAYMENT SLIP AND EVALUATION FORM to workforce Planning and Resourcing to collect payment.

Dress Requirements

Personal appearance must be neat, tidy and clean. Suggested clothing includes smart casual shirt, pants, skirt, dress, jumper, cardigan and closed toe leather shoes, if necessary protective clothing will be provided. Please do not wear jeans, tracksuit pants, shorts, miniskirts, t-shirt tops that expose midriff, sneakers or runners (school shoes are acceptable). Long hair should be tied back.

Students are required to bring one-piece bathers (no bikini's) or shorts & t-shirt and thongs for hydrotherapy session.
