Abruzzo Lab - Arrosticinibar Italian Eatery

Two SWL placement opportunities exist for enthusiastic students to work alongside experienced and friendly staff with Abruzzo Lab – Arrosticinibar Italian Eatery. Students will be involved in Food Preparation of authentic Italian flavours. Arrosticinibar is located in Melbourne's fastest growing residential and commercial growth corridor and is designed to appeal even to those with the most demanding palate. Students will focus on preparing quality food in a casual atmosphere yet ensure the ultimate culinary experience.

Skills You Might Learn

The student engaging in cooking and food preparation will get the opportunity to develop skills in:

• Italian cuisine
• Knife skills, slicing and other kitchen equipment
• How the service runs and different positions in the kitchen, as well as other sections
• Coolroom setup
• Customer service, interpersonal and communication skills

• High standards of personal hygiene.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will be providing support to the kitchen team, including, but not limited, to food preparation and engaging in cooking under the supervision of the Chef; grating; peeling; chopping; preparing batters; garnishes and seasonings. The student’s strong communication skills will shine through in this role by delivering service experience from excellent front of house customer service, checking ordering lists, monitoring the HACCP system, from harvesting to consumption, such as basic temperature monitoring, having knowledge of food and safety requirements, hygiene and everything in between. The student will be involved in a wide variety of tasks. This will ensure that every day is different and will involve delivering food and non-alcoholic drinks, maintaining the service area, washing up and general cleaning.

Student Requirements

The student may have previous experience in a similar role or may be a customer service superstar in a different industry, either way we would love to hear from you. There are a few things that will make you shine in this role: having energy and a positive attitude, a genuine customer service focus and a dedication to always making our guests smile during their dining experience. We are seeking students that go the extra mile to provide a memorable experience with the ability to multitask, work under pressure and think on your feet to quickly advise and offer suggestions.
