DHM Partners have an exciting Structured Workplace Learning Opportunity (SWL Opportunity) in Business Services as a Business Services Assistant. The SWL Opportunity is ideally suited to a VCE, VCE-VM, VPC student studying to follow a career pathway as a Business Services professional in administration, human resources, accounting or financial planning. A student studying a VET Business subject as part of their study program would be highly regarded.
Work placement Location: DHM Partners, 164 Lime Avenue, Mildura.

Typical Tasks & Duties
The student will undertake duties as part of a professional and hardworking team. The student will be responsible for customer contact and usually is the first ‘point of call’. This may require general feedback to an inquiry regarding the services provided. The student will complete Business Services duties for administration, human resources, accounting and financial planning departments. The student will work under direct supervision of the department Officer in Charge.
Administration tasks and duties may include but are not limited to;
• Contribute to health and safety of self and others.
• Deliver a service to customers.
• Work effectively in a business environment.
• Process and maintain workplace information.
• Handle mail.
• Communicate in the workplace.
• Produce simple word-processed documents.
• Create and use spreadsheets.
• Communicate electronically.
• Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices.
• Organise and complete daily work activities.
• Process financial transactions including money handling and extract interim reports.
Student Requirements
Students with a positive attitude towards the Business Services Industry as a Business Services Assistant who are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future SWL placement to develop skills learned from their VDSS subject relating to Business.
Whilst the student is attending the work placement they are expected to:
• Students must be interested in the Business Services Industry as a Business Services Assistant and possess good communication skills.
• Students must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested.
• Dress appropriately.
• Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
• Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
• Be punctual.
• Follow management instructions.
• Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
• Work within the team.
• Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
• Respect other people’s belongings.
• Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
• Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course.
• Take their Logbook to the work placement every day.
Dress Requirements
The student will be required to present in a neat and hygienic manner in the following work attire;
• Neat professional attire with full length work pants.
• Enclosed footwear, flat and non-slip.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.
Special Transport Requirements
Public Transport is limited, students to check bus transport availability and or speak to parents/carer to organise transport prior to contacting employer.
