Salvo's Store Dandenong

Salvos Stores is the retail arm of The Salvation Army Australia Southern Territory and operates over 200 retail stores nationally. Salvos Stores operates as a fully functioning retail business, recycling pre-loved goods donated by the public. In addition to their walk-in retail stores, Salvo's Stores also post products online for sale. This creates an opportunity for a student undertaking a Certificate III in Information Technology to apply the skills they are learning in class to a real work environment using their digital marketing skills.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will become familiar with a busy retail environment. They will be able to apply IT skills learnt in class to a real work setting. Students will learn how to select appropriate items for sale, take suitable images and upload to the Salvo's online website for sale. Students will also learn employability skills such as time management and problem solving as well as teamwork while working alongside a team of full-time staff and volunteers.

Typical Tasks & Duties

During this placement students will itemise products for sale online. Students will select and highlight daily specials to feature on the Salvo's online store, take images and then post items online.

Student Requirements

Students must be 16 years or over.
Students must show initiative and be keen to work each day. While working within a team environment students should be respectful, courteous and professional. Students must be punctual and notify their supervisor if they cannot attend or are running late.
Students must bring their own lunch and drinks.

Dress Requirements

Black neat casual clothing and closed toed shoes.

Special Transport Requirements

Accessible via public transport. Bus stops are situated at various locations in Dandenong within walking distance.
