Populus is a large and vibrant cafe/restaurant in the heart of Berwick, serving specialty coffee, breakfast, all-day brunch and lunch. This is an opportunity to learn valuable employability skills such as communication and time management as well as learning industry skills specific to Hospitality. As the name implies, Populus is a popular coffee and dining destination so you will have the opportunity to learn firsthand what it takes to work in a busy cafe/restaurant.
Skills You Might Learn
Students without any prior experience will learn valuable industry and employability skills. Students who are already studying VET Hospitality or Kitchen Operations will be able to build on their skills and knowledge.
Skills will be further developed in:
• Communication & customer service
• Teamwork skills.
• Register operation
• Food & Drink service
• Food preparation
Typical Tasks & Duties
Typical duties students may be involved in include:
• Food & drink service
• Customer Service
• Food preparation
• Cleaning and other duties.
Please note this role may include both front and back of house, dependant on student capability.
Student Requirements
Students must be willing to learn and interested in hospitality. You will need to be well presented, and work well in a team environment. Student to contact employer to organise an interview prior to starting.
Dress Requirements
Students are required to have a neat appearance.
They must also have:
• Enclosed shoes
• Hair tied back if longer than shoulder length
Special Transport Requirements
Accessible by public transport.
