Skills You Might Learn

Placement students will have the opportunity to develop their teamwork, problem solving, time management, communication, and other transferrable skills. They may also develop specific skills related to working with animals, such as hygiene routines, infection control policies and procedures, monitoring animal health and wellbeing, providing appropriate nutritional requirements, and providing basic care for a variety of animal types.

Typical Tasks & Duties

While on placement, students will assist the staff with general animal care and store tidiness. Students will assist with maintaining a clean workplace, creating displays that are pleasing to the eye.
Task such as- Cleaning reptile enclosures, feeding the reptiles, general animal husbandry and communicating with clients.

Student Requirements

Best suited to a VCE or VM student with a keen interest in working with animals, preferably undertaking Cert II or Cert III in Animal Studies.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This employer has a mandatory meet in person requirement before placement can commence. Placements are subject to cancel if this is not actioned. ***

Dress Requirements

Suitable for working with animals in a retail environment, to be discussed further at interview.

Special Transport Requirements

Venue close to Bus and train access. No Travel form required.
