Sales Assistant - Benton’s Plumbing Supplies is a family owned and operated business that serves the Plumbing, Gas and Water industries as well as the public. Benton's has sites across Victoria and has been operating since 1987. Benton's is committed to excellence in service, quality and delivery. They promote a personalised service to both trade and retail customers. This opportunity is open to first-year Retail/Business (Year 11) students. This place is designed for students to explore their interest in interior design, expand their knowledge of plumbing products, learn the language of the trade and sales while using the opportunity to expand their network of contacts in the industry.

You can gain skills in communication, teamwork, attention to detail, active listening, problem solving skills, OH&S procedures, receiving goods, stocktaking, customer service and working with suppliers.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will be following a 10-week program designed to give them the best outcomes for their understanding of the industry which is aligned with their logbooks. Completing OH&S modules online in the store. Customer service (shadowing showroom sales staff), stocktaking, merchandising of stock, cleaning, picking and delivering orders for trades assisting with general admin and opportunities to put interior design talents in practice.

Student Requirements

Students are required to be doing a VET in Business/Retail. This placement is for Year 11 students ONLY Students must contact the employer within 1 week of this placement being arranged.
Proficiency in creating PowerPoint/presentations also required for this placement.

Dress Requirements

Supervisor on site to specify during interview

Special Transport Requirements

Students must arrange their own way to and from placement and be permitted to accompany drivers when they are conducting deliveries.
