Skills You Might Learn

Students will gain insight into the horticultural industry which will include recognition and identification of different plant types, understanding the different types of soil, gain an understanding of the wholesale plant production processes, develop the knowledge and skills they have gained in their VET course. Students will participate in OHS processes and environmentally sustainable work practices.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students tasks may include potting up, cuttings and tubing. Preparing and packing plants for customer orders, processing plants for dispatch including barcoding and labels. Plant maintenance including weeding and pruning. Maintaining plant health and growing conditions including watering, cleaning, pest identification, keeping the work site clean and other associated duties.

Student Requirements

Student to bring own water bottle and lunch as there are no shops nearby. Gloves are available from employer however to fit a student well it is recommended student bring a pair of their own general gardening gloves, see Dress Requirements for further information.

Dress Requirements

Students to wear comfortable closed toed shoes, runners or boots, suitable clothes for weather conditions and gloves. Hats and sunscreen to be worn in summer as this work place is a sun smart work place. Gloves can be provided if haven't brought their own.

Special Transport Requirements

Public transport is limited this location is best reached by car.
