Located at 5a Gillingham Place Alfredton The Ballarat Animal Shelter is managed and operated by the City of Ballarat, and assists nearby councils in delivering quality animal care.
You will be reporting to Tara Parada.
Skills You Might Learn

* Reception and customer service experience
* Working in a local government department as part of the team
* Technical skills.
* Understanding of workplace policies and health & safety
Typical Tasks & Duties
Students may undertake the following tasks:
* Cleaning and maintaining the animal and other work areas
* Interacting with animals, and animal welfare tasks
* Researching behaviour patterns of animals
* Set up and pack up of equipment
* Interacting with customers, and possibly answering the phone
* Assisting in the day to day tasks of the business
Student Requirements

Students must display the following workplace skills:
* be reliable, responsible and trustworthy
* attend with a good attitude
* listen to and follow instructions and directions, and accept feedback in a work-appropriate manner

* be confident to ask questions and communicate with the staff
* show initiative
* arrive in appropriate workwear, on time and ready to work each day.
Students who gain a placement must read the Animal Shelter Workplace Handbook prior to commencing placement.
Dress Requirements
Students are required to wear clothing appropriate to the season eg. hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, beanie, warm clothing for winter, as some of the work will be outdoors work.
Clothing must be neat and presentable to the public, but something that you don't mind getting dirty, with runners or work boots.
Special Transport Requirements
There is a bus stop along the road up from the shelter, across the road from Vic Park.
