The Ballarat Aquatic & Lifestyle Centre provides aquatic facilities for the purpose of training, rehabilitation or leisurely play. Opportunities include small group and personal training options, plus a variety of group fitness classes and equipment in the Health Club.

Skill development is vital to life. Regardless of age and ability, our gymnastics and swimming lessons will help you achieve your goals.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will learn about and develop skills in effective communication, cultural diversity, workplace safety, networking, teamwork and responding to clients in various community services.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will experience the entire operation of the Ballarat Aquatic & Lifestyle Centre, and will participate in assisting, observing and supporting staff across the centre, including gymnastics, aquatics, health club and community engagement.

Student Requirements

Students wishing to place at BALC must be interested in pursuing a career in sport and recreation, and participating in a relevant sport or activity (eg. swimming) or a recreation qualification. Accepted students should make contact with the centre prior to their placement period, to determine any requirements.

Dress Requirements

Dress in PE/sport clothing that is comfortable and allows freedom of movement.

Special Transport Requirements

Public transport available - Wendouree Train Station is located 20 min walk/3.2km to the north of the facility, on Gillies Street. There are also public bus services which travel along Gillies Street in the vicinity of the centre.
