STEM Communicator Assistant

Calling all aspiring science communicators!
Are you passionate about STEAM? Do you want to engage audiences, promote innovation, and create impactful content? Do you have a passion for science, technology, engineering, art, or math and want to share your passion with other young Victorians? Our Tech School is looking for motivated students to join our team as a STEM Communication Assistant, offering an exciting work-based learning experience where you will develop real-world skills in communication and technology.

Skills You Might Learn

You will develop key technical and professional skills, including:
• STEM education and communication strategies
• Collaboration and independent work in a professional environment
• Project management and team work
• Digital media production (video, audio and graphic design).
• Content creation and social media management
• Industry-standard software proficient (Adobe Illustrator, Premier, CANVAS, Fusion360, etc)

Typical Tasks & Duties

Task & Duties:

As a STEM Communicator Assistant, you will dive into the world of STEM. You will:
• Support live events, supporting students to engage in technology, design thinking, participating in workshops and industry collaborations.
• Work on STEM communication projects, translating complex STEM ideas into exciting, accessible stories.
• Collaborate with educators and digital specialists, learning how to design content for education and industry engagement.
• Work with our education team of experienced facilitators to run important, enquiry-based learning experiences.
• Learn about media producing software using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Illustrator, After Effects, Firefly), CANVA and other digital platforms
Every day is different at the Tech School. You might be assisting our STEAM Educators in learning experiences with students, preparing or packing up technology like drones and robots, troubleshooting software and technology or preparing resources for programs.

Student Requirements

Have a passion for STEM Education. Be ready to learn, collaborate and create. IMPORTANT NOTE: STEM Communicator placements are limited to a maximum of 5 students (minimum of 3) onsite, at any one time.

Dress Requirements

Casual/Smart Casual attire with enclosed footwear for safety.

Special Transport Requirements

Transport There is a bus stop at the bottom of our hill for the 343 bus.
