Salon is open from Tuesday to Saturday (including Tuesday and Thursday evenings). Interested students can negotiate mutually agreeable placement days and shifts directly with the employer.

Skills You Might Learn

Students will consolidate skills learned in alignment with their Salon studies.

General skills attained may include teamwork, communication, time management, customer service, using technology, problem solving.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students will start with basic tasks including sweeping, tidying reception area, folding towels, maintaining work spaces (including various equipment), preparing foil sheets, etc. Reception tasks may include greeting clients, and preparing beverages.

Salon Assistant students may progress to more skilled tasks when assessed to be ready by their supervisor, including;
- Shampooing services
- Dry hair to shape
- Prepare clients for salon services
- Develop hairdressing industry and product knowledge
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Apply braiding and styling techniques
- Other tasks as directed by supervisor as appropriate

Student Requirements

Placement ideally suited to students studying a certificate qualification in Salon Assistant or similar.

This employer is looking for the next great addition to their salon team, and the opportunity may exist for the right student who demonstrates quality skills and attitude to progress to an Apprenticeship.

Dress Requirements

Suited to personal services environment. Neat casual, clean and well-presented. NO thongs.

Special Transport Requirements

Venue is easily accessed by bus or train, and sits adjacent to Eaglemont Train Station.
