● Specialised Facials and Skin Rejuvenation to treat any skin concerns
● Lash Services including tinting, lash lifts and eyelash extensions
● Brow Services including waxing, tinting, henna, brow lamination
● Hair removal including IPL, tanning, massage, and Body sculpting services

Skills You Might Learn

During placement you will be supervised by qualified Beauty Therapists and may observe a range of beauty services and gain an understanding of the workings of a busy salon. General work-related skills include:
● Effective communication and interpersonal skills
● Working professionally as part of a team
● Liaising and working with colleagues, clients and potentially suppliers
● Working in real-life scenarios and environments

Students may also attain vital industry specific skills such as:
● Increased product and industry knowledge
● How to deliver a service to customers
● How to care and maintain industry tools, safe salon practices and processes
● Effective communication with clients and colleagues

Typical Tasks & Duties

You will observe and learn from qualified Beauty Therapists across a range of areas, typical tasks and duties may include:
● Customer services e.g., Greeting and seating clients, providing refreshments as well as handling phone reception duties
● Assisting with preparing clients for salon services (and potentially observing therapists during treatments)
● Maintaining tools and equipment and set up of work areas
● Replenishing stock and merchandising
● General cleaning and setting up rooms/services and applying salon safety practices (key components for all students)
● Assisting with social media
● Ad hoc tasks as directed by supervisor

Student Requirements

● Students must have a genuine interest in the beauty industry, have a neat appearance (see dress requirements), an eye for detail and be willing to listen and observe. Punctuality is important.
● Students must notify the workplace supervisor and the Goldfields LLEN (5441 144) of any planned or unplanned absences.
● Personal mobile phones are not required and should only be used out of work hours or on breaks.

Dress Requirements

Black or navy pants and top (no logos). Hair must be tied back (in a bun if length permits) and wear comfortable, closed in shoes or runners. No jewellery.
