The employer is a sole painter. The work is mostly domestic painting and includes interior and exterior work, wallpaper installation and colour design. This position would suit a student who is keen to pursue a career in painting.

Skills You Might Learn

The student that undertakes this opportunity will be enhancing the skills and knowledge that they are learning in their VETiS program. This may include OH&S specific skills, painting principles, use of painting and decorating hand tools, preparation and application, calculations for the trade and communication skills.

Typical Tasks & Duties

The student will be assisting the painter with all aspects of the trade. This may include surface preparation (sanding, putty, gaping), paint application, timber staining, site clean-ups and painting calculations. The student will be required to follow worksite procedures and assist with keeping a clean and tidy work area at all times.

Student Requirements

The student must be keen to learn the painting and decorating trade, be punctual, willing to listen and learn, follow all worksite OHS.

Dress Requirements

Students must wear protective clothing, safety footwear, hat and sunscreen
