- Liaising and working with colleagues, management, residents and their families.

Typical Tasks & Duties

Students tasks will range from some of the following:
- Communicating with residents and aged care professionals
- Assisting with planned activities, including helping residents with completing activities
- Set up and pack up of equipment, as well as tidying up
- Supporting community participation such as shopping and excursions
- Deliver meals to care recipients, set tables, clear dishes, but would not be involved in cooking.
- Provide companionship to care recipients and taking them for a walk
- Students will not be involved in providing personal care but will be able to observe what personal care workers or kitchen staff do.
NB. Students will be excluded from activities of a highly personal nature (eg. showering, changing incontinence pads)
Whilst student may operate some machinery under supervision (eg. wheelchairs), students are excluded from full weight bearing of clients.

Student Requirements

Students must be reliable, comfortable working with older people and respectful towards them. Students are also required to be enthusiastic, punctual, self motivated and happy to work in a team environment. They are expected to follow staff direction at all times and will be expected to engage with residents and participate in activities as required. In addition, students are encouraged to ask questions and take initiative for learning about the centre. Mobile phone use is STRICTLY PROHIBITED during work time.

Dress Requirements

Neat casual, closed toe shoes. Discreet jewellry. Hair and appearance should be neatly maintained
