Drummond Golf - Sunraysia Golf Range, Golf Driving Range has nine undercover bays with quality hitting mats, two massive grass tees, a new grass putting green, bunker and chipping area. You can be fitted to the right clubs in the Indoor/Outdoor Performance Fitting Centre using Flightscope technology, hitting full shots onto the Range. The WE Opportunity is ideally suited to a Year 10 student or a VCE student looking to gain experience in Gardening and Turf Maintenance Trades in the Sport and Recreation Industry.

Typical Tasks & Duties
As a Gardening and Turf Maintenance Assistant, the student will observe and spend time under the supervision of experienced and qualified staff assisting with general gardening and turf maintenance duties at Drummond Golf - Sunraysia Golf Range. The student may assist in the setting up of the golf range for play that will include setting pins, markers and preparing tee areas. The student may assist with practical and mechanical activities, undertake manual work and be prepared to work outdoors.
The student may observe and assist with the following tasks and duties; ;
- Assist with maintaining the soil of garden beds, lawn areas and golf greens.
- Maintain playing surfaces, lawn areas and gardens by mowing, weeding and ensuring that they receive adequate water.
- Attend to green waste removal.
- Use of and maintenance of basic gardening and greens keeping tools and equipment.
- Plant trees and shrubs.
- Recognise plants.
- Support turf establishment.
- Participate in work health and safety processes.
- Assist with landscape construction work.
- Assist with the operational maintenance of machinery.
- Assist with pressurised irrigation operations.
- Assist with low volume irrigation operations.
- Conduct visual inspection of golf range facilities.
- Follow instructions in an emergency situation.
- Maintain industry specific knowledge.
Student Requirements
Students with a positive attitude towards Gardening and Turf Maintenance Trades in the Sport and Recreation Industry who are self-motivated, willing to listen and follow instruction are encouraged to consider a future WE placement to develop skills learned from their school subjects relating to Horticulture.
Whilst the student is attending the work placement they are expected to:
• Students must be interested in Gardening and Turf Maintenance Trades in the Sport and Recreation Industry and possess good communication skills.
• Students must be willing to spend periods of time observing and to undertake necessary tasks as requested.
• Dress appropriately.
• Maintain interest and participate in tasks and work duties.
• Be well mannered and behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
• Be punctual.
• Follow management instructions.
• Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
• Work within the team.
• Listen and take advice from fellow workers.
• Respect other people’s belongings.
• Keep a note pad and pen handy to take notes for their own reference.
• Demonstrate the skills they have developed through their course.
• Take their Logbook to the work placement every day.
Dress Requirements
The student must be well presented, clean and hygienic at all times and present in the following work attire.
• Work pants or shorts.
• Work shirt long sleeve, hi visual.
• Work boots, steel cap.
• Wide brim hat.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks and duties carried out by the student, will be supplied by the Host Employer.
Special Transport Requirements
Public Transport is limited, students to check bus transport availability and or speak to parents/carer to organise transport prior to contacting employer.
