Typical Tasks & Duties
Assist mechanics with basic servicing tasks (e.g., oil changes, tyre rotations, replacing filters).
Clean and prepare tools and workshop areas.
Help check fluid levels and perform basic vehicle inspections.
Assist in moving and parking vehicles safely.
Observe diagnostics and repair procedures.
Learn to identify parts and tools.
Support in maintaining workshop cleanliness and organisation.
Shadow customer service interactions (e.g., taking bookings, explaining services).
Student Requirements
Interest in cars and automotive technology.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
Basic physical fitness (able to stand for extended periods, lift light parts, etc.).
Parental/guardian consent and school approval.
Completion of pre-placement paperwork (e.g., medical form, permission slips).
Dress Requirements
Steel-capped safety boots.
Durable work pants or overalls.
Workshop-appropriate shirt (may be provided).
No loose clothing or jewellery.
Long hair tied back.
Safety glasses and gloves as required (often provided by the centre).
Special Transport Requirements
Students are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the service centre.
Plan transport ahead to ensure punctual arrival.
If taking public transport, check timetables and allow extra time for delays.
