Typical Tasks & Duties
Observe and assist in vehicle inspections and diagnostics
Support with oil changes, tyre replacements, and basic servicing
Clean and maintain tools and the workshop area
Help record vehicle service data and customer information
Learn how to use diagnostic tools and mechanical equipment
Assist in fitting vehicle parts (e.g. brakes, filters, batteries)
Student Requirements
Interest in cars and mechanical systems
Willingness to follow safety instructions
Parental/guardian permission for placement
School approval for relevant insurance and documentation
Completion of Safe@Work General and Automotive Module
Up-to-date vaccinations if required by host employer
Dress Requirements
Steel-capped safety boots (compulsory)
Work pants and high-vis shirt or overalls (as required)
Safety glasses and gloves (provided by employer if needed)
No loose clothing or jewellery for safety reasons
Special Transport Requirements
Organise own transport (car, bus, bike, walk depending on location)
Confirm location and travel time before first day
Ensure reliable and punctual travel arrangements
