The placement student is primarily responsible for performing general painting duties and providing support to other team members on job sites. The student undertaking this placement is also responsible for learning the techniques and processes of the painting trade

Typical Tasks & Duties

• Attend and complete relevant site safety inductions and any required safety tasks prior to working on-site.
• Preparation of surface prior to coating also involves preparing work area such as covering floors, furniture and windows and applying masking tape.
• Perform painting duties as required including painting of surfaces using paint brushes, spray gun or paint rollers.
• Assist the Painter by ensuring trays are filled with paint and sections are prepared ready for painting.
• Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
• Tidy up and clean work site.
• Wash out painting equipment in appropriate wash areas.
• Load and unload work vehicles.
• Perform general manual labour duties such as lifting and carrying.
• As required liaise with other tradespeople, site supervisors, builders and clients in a professional manner.
• Follow direction and complete instructions.
• Work efficiently and safely.
• Perform other general duties as required.
