Community Projects Assistant , Youth Worker
Diamond Valley Community Support
Gaining real industry experience at DVCS can be an excellent pathway for a young person aspiring to become a social worker. The not-for-profit charitable organisation has been serving the local community since 1972 and they help assist people in the local community who are experiencing hardship. Their Emergency Relief program can provide food vouchers, pre-cooked meals, food bags (non-perishables), bread, referrals to local food outlets plus petrol vouchers, prescription assistance and so much more. It is a personal service which is based on listening about the clients’ situation and providing material aid, advice and referrals to relevant organisations. During a placement, students may also learn about Social Enterprises (Op shops and weekend markets) and Volunteering support in the community. This is a meaningful pathway to gaining industry experience and hands-on learning while building a sense of community.
