In partnership with the Goldfields LLEN the Bendigo Tech School is offering the 'Entrepreneurial Edge Work Experience Program', a one-week placement opportunity for students either studying or interested in exploring careers in business. Students will explore innovation, entrepreneurship, and business development across several high-growth industry sectors.
Throughout the week students will work in teams to identify a real-world problem within a traditional industry and design a robotics or digital technology solution. The week will culminate in a final pitch to an industry panel.
The week consists of:
Bugbox Robotics Experience
Customer Personas + Competitor Analysis
Start-Up Finance
MVP, Branding, and Pricing sessions
Empathy Interviews with Industry Representatives
Guest speakers
Daily stand-up + presentation development
Branding & Marketing workshop
Stand-up + storytelling & message building
Pitch rehearsals and feedback
Final Pitch Presentations to Panel

Skills You Might Learn
Throughout the program students may gain the following tactical and soft skills including:
An understanding of how to conceptualise, develop and produce an idea/product
Interviewing and data collection
Research and design
Designing robotics and/or digital technology
Fundraising and branding (marketing)
Presentation and pitch development
Typical Tasks & Duties
Whilst on placement students will work with BTS staff and industry representatives to:
Develop ideas
Pitch for funding
Engage in partner and group activities
Explore different business models
Conduct research and interviews
Develop presentations
Student Requirements
Students need to have a genuine interest in exploring careers within business, demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts, effectively communicate and collaborate, and be prepared to take on a variety of tasks related to the program.
Dress Requirements
Neat casual dress e.g., long sleeved top/pants/skirt/dress with comfortable shoes (this placement involves engagement with industry, so it is important to ensure your outfit is appropriate for interviews and presentations).
If hair is longer than shoulder length it should be tied up.
