Gaining Retail experience at Diamond Creek Op Shop can be an excellent pathway for a young person to engage in real hands-on industry experience. The not-for-profit charitable organisation will help students to develop a greater understanding of OHS in a workplace, enhance employability skills, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as job-readiness and retail experience. During a placement, students may also learn how to provide Social Enterprises and Volunteering support in the community. This is a meaningful pathway to gaining industry experience and hands-on learning while building a sense of community.

Typical Tasks & Duties

At Diamond Creek Op Shop, the student placement will work with the volunteers and interact with customers. They will be involved in daily tasks such as greeting customers, stock sorting and presentation, pricing decisions, sales, window themes, social media strategies, upcoming events, along with payment processes (cash and credit), recycling waste and OHS requirements.

Student Requirements

Ideally suited to students interested and already studying certificated related in Community Service / Youth Worker career pathways.

Dress Requirements

Casual, weather appropriate clothing. Wearing enclosed shoes is mandatory (no slip on, flip flop or thong style shoes).

Special Transport Requirements

Walking distance to Bus or Train stations.
